Well, you could always wait for it and then apply and see what happens. They may not even want to bother with a non-local. Unless you'd be asking the person who told you about the possible job to be your leg in, so to speak. In that case, you'd need to be sure you were interested before you applied.In any case, I would say not to bother unless the prospect of starting some place new or something about Houston itself excited you. While you can always come back, life is not just about the career and there are other jobs out there.

After having heard what this job is I'm in the "go for it" camp. Just come back and visit often or I'll kick yer ass. 'Sides, if Texas girls were good enough for John Wayne. they're good enough for HH.
Yes, now you know why I'm giving it serious thought. That and the facility's namesake visits pretty regularly.
